Clicks are produced by creating a pocket of low pressure in the mouth and releasing it. They are among the most complex consonant articulations in human language. Click languages are concentrated in southern and eastern Africa, most famously in the Khoisan family. The !Kung language has more than 40 distinct click phonemes.
